Shivansh Gupta

Hi! I am Shivansh, I'm working with Prof. Vasundhara Sharma in the Srini Raju Centre for IT and the Networked Economy (SRITNE) within the Information Systems Department.

My research examines how information design and governance choices on digital platforms influence user behavior and market outcomes. I use large-scale observational data to analyze how participants ranging from content creators to consumers and buyers to sellers respond when platforms change their policies or information features through moderation rules or recommendation algorithms. Methodologically, I combine computational analysis with econometric methods to estimate the effects of these changes.

I am interested in understanding how information structures, platform design and governance shape user behavior, incentives, and perceptions, and how these micro-level responses aggregate to influence organizational and market outcomes. To learn more, please visit my Research page.

Prior Experiences: Before joining ISB, I worked as a Data Scientist at HCLTech, developing machine-learning and analytics solutions for Chevron and ExxonMobil. My work focused on building and optimizing data ingestion pipelines and developing predictive models for asset management and maintenance analytics. This experience deepened my interest in how data-driven technologies shape organizations and people, ultimately motivating my transition into Information Systems and computational social science research.
